YULitle Box

Requires: starting clamp, normal 1 piece lengths
Description created from video below. This pattern allows a stringer to string crosses top to bottom using 1 string piece on racquets with the mains normal pattern ending at the throat.

Video Demonstration

This video from YULitle demonstrates the pattern. Although labeled Universal ATW, it is quite different than the pattern labeled Universal by the USRSA, and displays the characteristic box shape (goes around the frame before crosses are installed) Our apologies to the author for the subjective reclassification.

Leave short side outermost main

String all mains except for outer short side main

Short side cross

Weave and tension 1st cross using short side, use starting clamp outside frame to secure it

Early Box

Using the long side, weave and tension the bottom cross, then short side main. If total number of crosses is odd, weave the bottom cross the same as the top cross. If total number of crosses is even, weave the bottom cross opposite the top cross.

Finish short side

Re-tension short side, remove starting clamp, tie-off.

Weave crosses

Continue weaving the crosses (starting at 2nd) with long side until complete. Re-pull second to bottom cross to adjust for extra friction (due to last cross already installed) and tie-off.
