diredesire ATW

Requires: starting clamp, normal 1 piece lengths
Illustration built from this photo annotated description diredesire's Modified Around The World Pattern. This pattern allows a stringer to string crosses top to bottom using 1 string piece on racquets with the mains normal pattern ending at the throat.

Video Demonstration

This YULitle video demonstrates the diredesire pattern with the following modifications:

  • short side top cross before the long side third cross
  • final cross is installed before outer mains, leaving the tie off string on a main.

Leave Outermost Mains

Install mains normally until next to outermost. The outermost mains will not be installed until later, make sure the 2nd to last main clamps are positioned to leave room for the 3rd cross.

Long side 3rd cross

Thread the long side through the third cross. Tension, and clamp outside the frame with the starting clamp.

Short side on 1st cross

Thread the short side through the 1st cross, keeping the same weaving pattern as the third, and tension.

Finish short side

Move the long side clamp onto the 1st cross, tie off short side.

Remove starting clamp and continue crosses

Apply tension to the third cross and remove the starting clamp, re-clamp string with fixed clamp. Continue threading crosses and pulling tension until the last cross.

Thread the box

After all crosses except the last are tensioned, weave and tension in the closest main, then the top cross, the opposite side main, and finally the bottom cross. (shown in orange) Tie off long side to finish.
