Around and Around

Requires: Starting clamp, 9" longer on short side Illustration built from description in USRSA Stringers Digest 2008 Racquet Service Techniques p74
Pattern designed for 1 piece stringing top down for racquets with mains ending in the throat.

String mains, leave long side at head

String the mains normally. Leave the long side at the head, leaving the last main on that side unstrung for now. Don't clamp the long side close to the frame, make sure to leave enough room to install the 2nd cross.

Long side string 2nd cross

Use the long side to weave and tension the 2nd cross. Clamp with starting clamp outside frame.

Short side finish

Even total number of crosses, string the last cross with the same weave as the top cross, tie off.
Odd total number of crosses, string the 2nd to last cross with the same weave as the top cross. Weave and tension last cross. Tie off. (The example has 19 crosses)

Continue crosses

Retension long side, and replace starting clamp with regular left side clamp. Continue the crosses from the 2nd down to the installed bottom crosses.

Finish long side

Hard weave long side main, tension and clamp, then weave and tension top cross, tie off.
