ATW/Box Section

Around The World (ATW) and box racquet stringing patterns have long been used to combat a variety of issues, including mains ending at the wrong end, minimizing string outside the frame, moving tie-offs, and flying clamp tactics. Please help our PATTERN PROJECT by sending historical info, corrections, variants, new patterns, pattern naming corrections, etc to the email address patterns at this domain name.

ATW/Box Stringing Section Index

PatternNamer - PatternSummary

ATW/Box patterns are used primarily to string crosses from the top down on racquets with mains normally ending in the throat.

Some patterns offer additional benefits, tailoring patterns to frames with unique skip/tie-off challenges, moving the tension loss from tie-off, moving strung sweetspot, using different tools, etc.

Please Note

The Pattern Project attempts to subjectively name and categorize various stringing patterns and methods.
One piece patterns and methods are divided up into ATW and Box depending upon when majority of crosses are installed.
  • ATW patterns finish with at least one woven main string

  • Box patterns get the tricky portions out of the way early, before the crosses are installed
  • Please be aware that this distinction is unique to this site. This liberty was taken to simplify categorization and the relation each pattern has to the others.
